The Lausanne Kurdish Institute (IKL) takes the protection of your personal data seriously. This policy describes how we collect, use and protect your data, in accordance with the revised Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (revFADP, in force since 1 September 2023) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) where applicable.

Applicable law
IKL is based in Switzerland. The processing of personal data is governed primarily by the revFADP and the Vaud cantonal Data Protection Act. The GDPR applies subsidiarily when it concerns data subjects in the European Economic Area.
Data we collect
Depending on your interaction with IKL, we may collect:
- Contact data (name, email, phone) when you contact us via form or email
- Membership data (name, address, profession, motivation) when you apply for membership
- Donation data (name, amount, date, bank reference) when you support the Institute
- Technical data (anonymised IP address, browser type, pages visited) automatically collected for security and aggregated statistics
Purposes of processing
- Reply to your enquiries and manage correspondence
- Manage memberships and associative relations as per the statutes
- Comply with legal obligations (accounting, member register, Swiss tax law)
- Ensure site security and prevent abuse
Legal bases
Processing is based on your consent (forms), performance of a contract or associative relationship (membership), our legal obligations (associative accounting, art. 69b Swiss Civil Code) and our legitimate interest (security, aggregated statistics).
Retention
Contact messages are kept for 24 months. Membership data is kept while membership is active and 10 years after termination per Swiss accounting law. Technical data is anonymised within 30 days.
Data sharing
Your data is never sold. It may be shared with our hosting provider (Hostinger), our banking services and, upon request, the competent Swiss authorities. No transfer outside Switzerland / EU takes place without appropriate safeguards.
Cookies and trackers
ikurde.org uses only strictly necessary technical cookies (language preference, session). No advertising tracker or third-party analytics cookie is deployed without explicit consent.
Your rights
Under the revFADP and, where applicable, the GDPR, you have the following rights:
- Right of access to your data
- Right to rectification of inaccurate data
- Right to erasure (subject to legal obligations)
- Right to object to processing
- Right to data portability

Data security
IKL applies appropriate technical and organisational measures (TLS encryption, hosting in Switzerland / EU, restricted access, encrypted backups) to protect your data against loss, alteration or unauthorised access.
Changes
This policy may be updated to reflect legal or technical developments. The date of last update is shown at the top of this page.
